Our Field Trip

We went to the Center for Integrated Plant Science Building where Roderick's mom is a professor. Roderick is our Student of the Week! We got to look under the microscope, wear 3D glasses to look at special pictures that were printed just for us! Each student got to take their glasses and pictures home. We got to meet other Scientists in the lab. We got to see and pet a Hissing Madascan Cockroach. We got to see (not touch) a Chilean Rose Tarantula named Rosie. We got to see and even catch a few crickets that Rosie likes to eat. We learned that the crickets loose their jackets 3 times before they grow up. (The crickets are the only ones that can loose their jackets 3 times) :) A special thank you to Dr. Pastor (or Dr. Mom as the kids wanted to call her) for letting us visit her lab. Thank you to her colleagues for being so nice and sharing their lab with us.
We ended our trip at the MSU Dairy Store. Even though it was 10:20 A.M., there was another bus there so we sat on the floor in the hall and ate our ice cream. The kids did an incredible job of listening and following directions and making great choices. We had a fun morning and learned a lot!
